What you Need

Skewers or chopsticks

Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks

Small decorative ribbon or yarn (optional)

Gold paint or color of your choice (optional)

Step 1

(optional) Cut your skewers or chopsticks to desired length. I used cheap wooden chopsticks cut them 1-2 inches shorter and painted them bronze gold.

Get creative and use what you have, you could use wooden dowels or sticks you collect outside. You could even sculpt broomsticks out of clay.

Step 2

Create a bundle of twine. I did this by wrapping around 4 of my fingers 20 times, you can do less or more depending on how full you want your broom to be.

I recommend counting if you are making multiple broomsticks so they will be similar in size.

Step 3

Hot glue all around your stick about 1 inch from the bottom, attach your twine bundle all the way around your stick.

Take a short length of twine and tie about 1/2 inch from the top of the bundle. Using the ends of the twine you tied on wrap them around the broom hot gluing in place, trim excess twine after glueing both ends down.

Step 4

Cut all loops at the bottom of your broomstick. Untwist some of the twine strands to create a fuller more natural looking broom.

If desired trim your broom to the desired length and even up the strands. Brooms don't have to be perfect, but I do like trying to make them similar lengths.

Step 5

Decorate your broomsticks if you want. Add a ribbon bow or little buttons or charms to make your broomstick unique. I used black yarn to tie my broomsticks to a pink cloth napkin for my witch's tea party table settings.
