Some of the cutest DIYs I have been seeing around are Mickey Pumpkins and Floral Pumpkins. I was so excited to put my own twist on both of these DIYs to make the cutest pumpkin in the patch. This Dollar Store Pumpkin Mickey DIY was inspired by @myjoystory2 on Instagram.
I also added 3 hidden Mickeys into my floral arrangement because when it comes to Mickey Mouse the more the merrier. I will highlight the hidden Mickeys at the end of the post. Let me know in the comments if you find them all!

Materials
Foam Pumpkin- Dollar Tree
Door Knob Wall Shield - Dollar Tree
Moss- Dollar Tree
Foam Disks- Dollar Tree
Jumbo Popsicle Sticks (Optional)
Mod Podge- Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby
Assorted Flowers & Succulents- Hobby Lobby
Americana Acrylic Paint: White & Spiced Pumpkin- Hobby Lobby
Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue Sticks
Popcorn Kernels

I started off by removing the pumpkin stem and painting 2- coats of white paint on the pumpkin. You can skip the white layer if you want to and go straight to the pumpkin color of your choice. To make painting the pumpkin easier, I inserted a jumbo popsicle stick though the center of the pumpkin, just make sure not to poke through the bottom. The popsicle stick gave me something to hold onto to so I could paint all sides of the pumpkin at once. I also inserted the popsicle stick into foam disks while the pumpkins dried.

For the color of my Mickey Pumpkin I used Americana Acrylic Paint in the color Spiced Pumpkin. I painted 3-5 Coats of spiced pumpkin. I tend to do more coats then are probably needed because I like to have thick coverage. When painting your Pumpkin I alternated blush strokes between horizontal and vertical to get paint in the little cracks.
Paint your "Mickey Ears" with coats of Spiced Pumpkin as well, make sure to coat the front and the back. Let your pumpkin and ears dry in between coats of paint. If you are impatient like me and hate watching paint dry you can use a hair dryer to speed up the process.
Once dry, paint of coat of mod podge on the pumpkin and ears. I used a glossy mod podge but you could use matte for a different look.

Cut the top off your pumpkin. Fill a sandwich ziplock bag 1/3 of the way full with popcorn kernels. Put the bag into the bottom of the pumpkin, stuff a plastic grocery bag on top. This will help give the pumpkin some more weight at the bottom so its not top heavy.

Cut your foam disk to fit inside your pumpkin. It doesn't matter what type of foam you use, they all should work for this. I needed to used a Exacto- Knife to cut slits along the seam of the pumpkin, the slide your ears in.

Time to Hot Glue the moss! This is the messiest part, I put a cereal box underneath to help contain the mess and make clean up easier. Work in small sections to hot glue on the moss and cover the pumpkin.

I placed my flowers on the pumpkin before I started gluing to get an idea for the arrangement and spacing I wanted to go for.

Start by hot gluing your biggest flowers into place. Work out from the middle as I went I used small flowers and succulents to fill the spaces or add color. When I was happy with my arrangement and had everything glued into place. I added a little more moss to fill in some spaces so you could see it more.
Here is the front view of my Mickey Pumpkin.

This is the back view. Can you spot all the hidden Mickeys?

Here is a close up of all three hidden Mickeys. I hid one succulent Mickey on the front of the pumpkin. On the back of the pumpkin there is one floral hidden Mickey and one succulent hidden Mickey. You can never have too many Mickeys!
